V. Course Name: Nursing of obstetrics & gynecology
Theory Hours: 35hours
Lab Practice Hours: 12hours
Course Description: The course focuses on the woman, her infant, her family and nursing care related to the gynecologic need of women from childhood to older adulthood. The basic principles which guide the nursing practice are health promotion, disease prevention and holistic approach. It also includes physiological changes related to pregnancy, fetal development and nursing care of the family during labor and delivery and the puerperium. It incorporates nutritional considerations and drug therapy for the pregnant female, the fetus and the neonate. The student will care for women during the entire period of pregnancy, labor, birth and puerperium. Nursing process emphasis is placed on both normal and abnormal conditions during this period, the effects that other health conditions have on pregnancy and childbirth and the effects that pregnancy and childbirth have on the health and life or mother and child.
VI. Course Name: Pediatric Nursing
Theory Hours: 35hours
Lab Practice Hours: 12hours
Course Description: This course reviews core principles of pediatric nursing as they
apply to the developmental continuum that extends from the end of the neonatal period through adolescence. It includes applications of the nursing process to achieve health promotion and health restoration for the pediatric client and their family utilizing growth and development concepts. Nutrition and drug therapy considerations for the pediatric client are included in the study. Integration and application of child health care knowledge is a requirement of this course. Clinical practice consists of instructor-supervised full patient care of children and their families. Clinical practice in ambulatory settings and simulation experiences are integral to learning in child health.
Major Topics: growth and development,child care,management of hospitalized child, child nutrition, neonate and management of neonatal disease, management of child with nutritional disturbance disease, circulatory disease, nervous system disease, acute infectious disease ,and disease of digestive system, respiratory system, urinary system, and hematopoietic system.
VII. Course Name: Psychiatric nursing
Theory Hours: 24hours
Lab Practice Hours: 8hours
Course Description: the study of human behavior with emphasis on emotional and mental abnormalities and modes of treatment incorporating the nursing process. This course serves an introduction to functional and organic mental illness. Nursing will be focused on persons with dysfunctional ego as well as their family and community. With the professional knowledge and skills of mental health and psychiatry, the students are able to help clients to make better adjustment and develop their potential.
Major Topics: basic knowledge of mental disorder, basic skill of Psychiatric nursing, precaution and management in critical condition of psychiatric patient, management of psychiatric disorders associated with brain damage and physical diseases, substance related disorders, schizophrenia and management, thymogenic mental disorder and management, neurosis disorders and management, psychogenic mental disorder and management, eating and sleeping disorders, personality disorders, psychological problems for children, psychotropic drugs and therapies, psychological interview, community mental health.
